Hover-flies - Unfolding wings

 

just hatched, wings unfolded The relatively long antenna that is typical of the microdon genus can well be recognized. Hover-flies rarely have long antennae, in most species, they are very short and may have quite complicated bristles and hairs.  

The body is relatively big now, because it holds all body liquid. This is going to change now, since the fly is going to pump body liquid into the veins of its wings to unfold them.
