Living at High Speed -  The ?? Hawk-moth

 

bulky body and fur This is a portrait of the ?? hawk-moth (Laothoe populi). The perspective of this picture shows the bulky, furry, spindle-shaped body that narrows towards its beginning and its end. 

On the below side of its feelers the ??hawk-moth in the picture wears bundles of hairs. They are typical for males, that have additional sensory organs to perceive the faint scent of females over long distances. Female antennae are not hairy.
